Hey Ben! Love this and I'm definitely going to share it with friends and family. Quick note: the creator of the spoon theory is Christine Miserandino. It seems like you accidentally left in a note to yourself to look up the name in there (*creator*). Just thought I'd let you know! Thanks again for all the work you do.

OMG! Thank you so much. Sometimes resilience looks like letting yourself be a human and trusting that other kind people will have your back <3

Thanks for masking! As a disabled queer person, that's one of my favorite ways to show resilience. It's an amazing feeling when I see folks willing to show up in that way to make the world just a little bit safer <3

YES!! I love finding meaningful ways to signal that I am a safe person to the wonderful disabled folks I share the world with (and also, I love not being sick and not getting other people sick!!)

Ben, I’m watching the wind outside blow small trees from side to side and thinking about how sometimes we’re the wind and sometimes the trees. Either way, it’s about knowing when to apply force and when to ease up. Thanks for your post!

I love these, and can see you put some work into finding takes that aren’t already all over the internet :)

I gave myself one “resolution” for this new year (though it’s not really that I “resolved” to do anything, more like I chose to make room for a thing): to take time each morning to do something that connects me with art and creativity in some way. I made myself a fun list, and am really enjoying cozy ways to get grounded before the day’s responsibilities come flooding in. It’s been lovely so far, and hugely helpful in keeping me calmer and more joyful throughout the day 😌

Highlights include:

-doing a high-energy silly dance

-writing a phrase I want to remember in colorful calligraphy

-drawing “data art” (creative visual renderings of, say, how many doctors’ appointments I went to last year, or anything else that both validates and captures my life experience)

-singing a song

-writing a tiny one-paragraph snapshot of a story
