This IS liberating news! As a queer human who's worked with trans+ folk for over a decade, I've long worried about the rigid use of labels. Super glad to see this shift <3
“If we avoid taking chances and risks, we'll miss out on really genuine changemaking opportunities.”
Personally, as a transfem, I enjoy taking calculated risks over mindbending depression, self-loathing, and REGRET that I didn’t live my best, authentic life.
As far as what I wish people had known or done to be more supportive, honestly I wish people hadn't accused me of "faking" just because I was confused. I also wish people had spent more time listening to understand, instead of listening for their turn to talk.
I love that people feel free to explore. As a GenX who came out as bi and later as pan, back in the previous millenuim :) I think it's great that people have this freedom. I feel great that there are so many non-binary and other gender definitions, even though I define myself as a woman. It's just beautiful. If our generation has achieved something meaningful, that is it: the freedom to explore.

“If you thought trans people had a biological advantage in sports... just wait until you see our biological advantage in being hot and charming.”
